The oil, automotive and coal companies have spent 100′s of millions of dollars on advertising to convince their customers that they care about the environment and being green. However, upon looking closely one will discover that their corporate green activities they are doing is a mere drop in the bucket relative to their primary expenditures and would qualify as Greenwashing. Case in point if the major oil companies really wanted to be green they would decide they were simply in the energy business and not mainly in the fossil fuel business and would be the leading investors in alternative and sustainable fuels. Instead of for example Chevron, which has been actively hindering the sale of large form factor EV batteries for more than a decade. See Reality of Chevron Corporate Responsibility for more info.

In nearly every direction you look there will no doubt be many more potential sources of electric power relative to the number of fossil fuel service stations. If time is valuable then even standing around waiting at a gas station while your vehicle refuels seems like a waste of time compared to getting recharged while not waiting and doing something way more productive such as sleeping!
