Humans Cause Climate Change Says French Academy of Science

The French Academy of Science finally links Climate Change/Global Warming to humans…Really it took that long? NASA and NOAA have been saying that for years in addition to the 1000’s of scientists that contributed to Climate research accomplished by the United Nations. Well I guess it’s better to show up late for the party than to never show up at all.

French Science point finger at humans for climate change

The French Academy of Science “Global warming exists and is unquestionably due to human activity.”

The French Academy of Science has finally published the following statements:

“Global warming exists and is unquestionably due to human activity.”

“Several independent indicators show an increase in global warming from 1975 to 2003. This increase is mainly due to the increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide.”

“The increase in carbon dioxide, and to a lesser degree other greenhouse gases, is unquestionably due to human activity.”

The statements are from a written report from the French Academy of Science that was written and published in Paris (October 2010) by 120 scientists.

The report seems to be a direct response to the book “The Climatic Deception”, published by France’s former education minister Claude Allegre and who also happens to be a geochemist. Who claimed in his book that carbon dioxide could not be 100% linked to climate change.

The French Academy of Science wanted to contradict what was said in the book after hundreds of environmental scientists had complained that Allegre, in particular, was disparaging their work. So this particular report from the French Academy of Science was commissioned by Minister for Research Valerie Pecresse. Of interest is that Allegre is also a member of the French Academy of Sciences and also signed off on the report.

“He has the right to evolve,” the academy’s president Jean Salencon said.

Pecresse said: “The debate is over.”
