Occupy Movement Gets Constitutional Amendment Wish
Proof that the Occupy Movement is having an influence in US politics and is an excellent start to getting the influence of money out of politics.
Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont proposes a constitutional amendment to eliminate abuses of corporate personhood and overturn the Supreme Court ruling that allowed unrestricted and secret campaign spending by corporations on U.S. elections. The constitutional amendment would reverse the narrow 5-to-4 ruling in Citizens United vs. the Federal Elections Commission.
Obviously Senator Sanders is not owned by the multinational corporations and is a true patriot of the people. Under the current law corporations have more rights than people. People can not donate without disclosure to political campaigns and there are currently limits on the amount that they can donate. So not only are corporations being treated as people, but they have been given even more rights than people.
Once the money out of politics perhaps government will start passing laws that benefit the people more instead of corporations.
