100,000 Petition to Name Storms After Climate Change Skeptics
Climatenamechange.org creates Severe Storm Name Change Video and Petition, as a novel solution to help deal with Climate Change deniers that are personally responsible via their political actions and public statements for obstruction of efforts to help mitigate climate change.
The video is quite funny, but the number of Representatives in the US Government and elsewhere that block action to mitigate further Climate Change/Global Warming and publicly misrepresent science is no joking matter.
It’s certainly fine for skeptics to correctly point out any specific cases that go against the Global Warming trend, but it is yet another for these politicians to ignore the results of literally thousands of peer-reviewed scientific documents and conservative consensus statements put out by such international organizations as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Remaining ignorant of information that can have such an adverse direct affect on even those very people that elected them to public office as caretakers of the public good reeks of corruption and serving special interest groups.
One semi-reasonable explanation for such continued actions on the part of such lawmakers is that their state or regions they represent are highly invested in fossil fuels, and they just don’t wish to give up that revenue/tax generating source.
However this situation is not unlike finding out that certain aspects of your life increases the likelihood of getting cancer or that your favorite food is extremely high in fat or salt and has been reasonably scientifically linked or proven that it is not good for you or for anyone for that matter.
Politicians should at least try and balance their statements and actions to not hinder those attempting to take action to mitigate potential damage and future hardship. At least that would be a more mature and responsible approach to properly deal with newly discovered facts and established Climate Change causes/results.
Not unlike if you are going to eat bad food you going to have to exercise more and if your going to burn carbon you need to do something to balance those actions by reducing carbon additional carbon use by creating and using more solar, wind, geothermal power, driving more hybrid/electric vehicles, and eating more locally grown food etc.
About 3 million people have viewed the video about naming severe storms after politicians:
So far over a 100,000 have signed a petition by climatenamechange.org to the World Meteorological Organization to change the naming system for extreme storms to those that deny the existence of climate change and you can add your name as well:
www.climatenamechange.org/#/petition
In addition to those politicians mentioned by name in the video, there are other Politicians (Names Provided below) that also perhaps need a little public shaming and being called out to explain their logic and thinking as to their public statements and actions regarding climate change mitigation. The region and political affiliation of these diehard Climate Change Skeptics are also listed to help illustrate the point that it might not just be highly coincidental that many of the same politicians also represent states and regions that are highly invested in Fossil Fuel extraction, production etc.

Before I get slammed for labeling all US Republican politicians for being deniers of Climate Change let me list the exceptions I found during my research:
Sen. Lamar Alexander (TN) Republican
Sen. Susan Collins (ME) Republican
Sen. Bob Corker (TN) Republican
Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (NJ) Republican
Rep. Michael Grimm (NY) Republican
Sen. Mark Kirk (IL) Republican
Rep. Chris Smith (NJ) Republican
Sen. John Thune (SD) Republican
Please be so kind as post any corrections and additions to the list. FYI: I was unable to discover any federal Independent and only one Democrat Senator or Representative in Congress that did not basically accept the prevailing Climate Change Consensus shared by 97% of the peer-reviewed scientific studies conducted by Climate Scientists worldwide.
